Getting ready for the holidays
Randallstown house fire
Early this morning we were alerted for a house fire in the Randallstown area. Our squad was due along with numerous other engines and trucks in the area. First arriving engine found a house with fire in the basement and roof. The crews made an aggressive attack including the crews from our squad. The squad was on scene for approximately an hour before being released.
House fire in Carroll County and Transfer Detail
Early this morning Truck 404 and Squad 414 were alerted for a working house fire in Westminster. Squad 414 went enroute with 4 members to the house fire. We arrived and were immediately cleared. Carroll dispatch requested we fill in at Carroll Station 3 (Westminster) until their crews were cleared of the house fire. In all we were at Station 3 for approximately 1 hour.
Squad 414 Training
Squad 414 (S414) in our station is used for many different incidents. Primarily it is outfit for rescues and in particular for extricating patients trapped in vehicles. For that task it has multiple spreaders and cutters to open up car doors or remove roofs. But there are many other tools on the squad. There is a whole section for rope rescues, water rescues and confined space rescues.
As well the squad has a large number of lights, which was one of the initial tasks for a squad on a fire. Some lights would be set-up in the front of the house, some would be set-up around the back (if accessible) and some set-up inside, all so we, and others, can see what we are doing in our fire fighting tasks.
Last night we pulled all the lights off the squad and went over how to set them up (for some newer members).
Motor vehicle collision on Route 30
Units were dispatched for a motor vehicle collision with patients trapped in Arcadia’s box area. SU418 was on the original call along with apparatus from stations in Baltimore and Carroll counties. SU418 stabilized the vehicle and removed the doors for easier access to the patient. E412 secured the parking lot at Sportsman’s Hall on Route 30 for the Trooper. M435 transported the patient to the landing zone and E412/M435 crews transferred the patient from the medic unit to the Trooper.
Rescue on Westminster Pike
Just before midnight last night S414, E413 and several surrounding stations were alerted for a rescue with one person trapped in the vehicle. A415 and S414 arrived to find a car on its side. E413 and SU418 shortly after. The occupant was not injured. S414 stabilized the vehicle and cut the front windshield so the occupant could step out.
Two RVFC Members Receive Awards
On September 19, 2015 the Baltimore County Volunteer Firemen’s Association held its Annual Awards Banquet at the Bowley’s Quarters Volunteer Fire Department. The banquet is used to recognize individuals who have shown outstanding and dedicated service to the Baltimore County Volunteer Firemen’s Association and its member companies.
A new award was developed this year to recognize individuals who have earned at least 50 accredited LOSAP points for 50 years. Mr. Fred Linker and Mr. Ted Schultz of the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company were honored with this award at the banquet. Congratulations to Mr. Linker and Mr. Schultz for this outstanding achievement.
Vehicle over embankment on Red Run Blvd.
On July 17 at 3:45pm we were alerted for a motor vehicle accident with rescue at Franklin Blvd. and Red Run Blvd. Engine 56 arrived to find a vehicle over the embankment with one occupant trapped. Special Unit 418 stabilized the vehicle with it’s winch and struts. Patient was extricated and flown by Trooper 1. Special Unit 418 is currently in service as a reserve rescue squad.

Passing of Paul Trager
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of life member Paul E. Trager. Paul joined the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company in 1968 and is a past President.
Services will be held at Eline Funeral Home 11824 Reisterstown Road (at Franklin Blvd.) on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 10:00am. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 3-5 and 7-9pm. Interment will be at Druid Ridge Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.ElineFuneralHome.com.
