Just before 9pm Baltimore County 911 center received multiple calls for a transformer on fire on Cockeysmill Road. When engine 413 arrived, they found fire in several levels of the equipment inside the BGE substation. Additional resources including water supply and foam units were requested. All units staged until the arrival of BGE crews. BGE personnel determined that the fire was in several capacitor banks. BGE personnel shut down the electric supply to the capacitor banks and grounded the capacitors. The ladder truck was moved into position to allow crews to extinguish the remaining fire. All units were cleared within 2 hours.
Busy weekend for MVCs
This weekend was busy for motor vehicle collisions for S414. Early Saturday morning (around 3am), just after the heavy rains in the area, a car went off of Route 30 and over the embankment. Then early Sunday morning there was another MVC on route 30. This was followed Sunday afternoon by a truck that went down a hill off the 795 onto the on ramp below.
This is aside from the 7 other calls on Friday night and then a mower fire on Saturday afternoon.
National Night Out – Chartley
Last night was the National Night Out for the Chartley Neighborhood. We had a great time there and thank you to all those who came around to see the fire trucks!
