S414 in Reisterstown

The new S414 has arrived in Reisterstown to our station. It was driven up from Jessup by one of our senior drivers, Henry Eckhardt Jr, along with our Chief Craig Hewitt and chair of the squad committee Bob Murray Jr.

The squad has several stops and we have training to do before it goes in service. But hopefully it will be in service within a couple of weeks. More details about the squad will be posted soon.

Cribbing for the New S414

Last night several members worked on getting the cribbing ready for our new S414. The new squad is in its final stages and should be delivered to us soon.

The cribbing being worked in the pictures is one of the things that is carried on each squad (and truck) in Baltimore County. The main use is for stabilization of a vehicle at an MVC. A whole, large compartment is dedicated to cribbing.

E413 on a House Fire

Just before 7:30 pm Engine 413 and Special Unit 418 were alerted for a dwelling fire in Owings Mills. Units from Owings Mills found fire to the rear of the structure on their arrival. The crew from Engine 413 attacked the fire in the basment and rear of the structure. The Special Unit crew assisted with ventilation. Units were on scene for several hours.

Reisterstown and Upperco Rescues

Over the past two days RVFC has been dispatched on several vehicle collisions with people trapped. On Monday night there was an MVC with someone trapped in a car against a pole. Then tonight there was a two car MVC up in Upperco that RVFC was dispatched on. We currently are running our special unit which is equipped with vehicle stabilization and extrication tools but look forward to our new squad’s arrival in the next month or so.

Door-to-Door Fundraising

The RVFC is doing a shortened door-to-door fund drive this year, unfortunately due to COVID-19. Every year we have people in the neighborhood requesting donations and this results in our largest fundraiser each year.

We do still need funds to run the fire station and for our newest rescue squad to replace S414, so please consider donating by sending a check (108 Main St, Reisterstown MD) or donating online.
