Gamber House Fire

This morning at around 4:30am Reisterstown and several other surrounding stations were alerted for a house fire in Carroll County in Gamber’s area.  E412 arrived and aided with fire suppression and searching for hot spots with crews from Carroll.  In all we were on scene approximately 3 hours.

Maryland State Police Helicopter Training

This morning firefighters and EMTs from stations 41, 42, 50, 40, 56, 18, 46 and 31 went over to Chestnut Ridge to do training on the new MSP helicopters.  MSP received new helicopters to replace their fleet of Dauphin (the new helicopters are larger and heavier and able to carry more equipment).  We had discussion about EMS apparatus they carry, proper landing zone operations and patient packaging and loading.  Thanks to MSP Trooper for coming over for this training.

 

Second alarm fire on Caraway Road

Last night Reisterstown, Owings Mills, Glyndon and several career stations were dispatched for an apartment fire in Station 56’s area.  Reisterstown initially responded with E413 and S414 along with the other first due companies.  Engine 56 arrived first with fire through the roof and E413 took the back side of the apartment building.  E413 advised there were multiple rescues.  E413 and S414 threw ladders and safely brought everyone off of the balconies.  Command requested a second alarm and an ALS strike team (4 medic units, another engine and another EMS Lieutenant).  Crews worked for approximately 3 hours to get the fire under control and for salvage and overhaul.

During the response Station 41 had every piece of apparatus at the call: E412, E413, S414, SU418, U419 and M415.

MVC with Entrapment in Owings Mills

On March 9th 2015 Rescue Squad 414 and Medic 415 were alerted for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment. Engine 312 arrived with a 2 car MVC with 1 confirmed fatality and 1 pinned. Rescue Squad 414 arrived and extricated 1 patient by removing the drivers door and freeing the patients legs. Care was turned over to EMS who transported to local hospital. Units were in service in under and hour.

Working Fire in Chestnut Ridge

On March 6th 2015 at 0411 hours Engine 412 and Rescue Squad 414 were alerted for a dwelling fire in Chestnut ridge. Initial units responded to find heavy fire showing from a 1 story rancher. Engine 412 dispatched was second arriving. Upon arrival they established a water supply and crews took the second handline into the basement. Rescue Squad 414 arrived and assumed second due special service responsibilities opening up and conducting searches. All units operated for approximately 3 hours before returning to service.

Heavy Rescue Box on Route 30

At around 10:30am, Reisterstown and several other companies were alerted for a truck which hit a car and then hit a house.  Squad 414, Engine 412, Special Unit 418 and Utility 419 responded and found a box truck had hit a car and then plowed into a house. Driver’s from both vehicles were trapped.  Command requested a heavy rescue box which brought more units including the USAR team from Station 17.

Crews were on scene for approximately an hour for extrication, packaging the patients and loading onto the helicopter.

Tractor trailer roll-over on I-795

Units were dispatched for 10-50PI Rescue reported as a tractor trailer overturned into a guardrail. Squad 414 responded and was first arriving to find one person trapped in the cab against the guard rail. The squad crew extricated the patient who was transported to a local hospital. MDE and Hazmat units responded to pump the fuel out of the saddle tanks.

Deputy Chief Billy Goldfeder coming to Reisterstown

The members of the Reisterstown are very pleased to announce an evening with Billy Goldfeder on the topic of firefighter and fire officer survival on the fire ground.

 

Billy Goldfeder is the co host of the web site www.FirefighterCloseCalls.com and the author of “Pass It On” . He currently serves as the Deputy Chief of the Loveland-Symmes Fire Dept in Ohio.
