Yesterday was very busy for RVFC. We ran 14 suppression (engine and/or squad) runs in our area and down to Owings Mills. There were many people and businesses that had issues with water flow alarms most likely due to the very cold weather the last few days.
House fire early this morning
This morning there was a house fire in our first due area. Engine 412 and Squad 414 arrived to find fire showing. Engine 412 laid a supply line and the crew pulled a handline into the house. Engine 412 and Squad 414 were aided by Glyndon, Owings Mills and Engine 56. Station 41 equipment was on scene for approximately 90 minutes.

Vacant house fire
Tonight a dwelling fire was put out for a vacant house in Glyndon’s first due. Reisterstown’s E412 was enroute very quickly after the first tone and S414 followed shortly after (along with other apparatus from surrounding stations). E412 arrived to find a vacant house with smoke coming up from the basement area. They pulled a handline off the engine and went around to the back as it had open access. S414 crew opened up the front door and then removed some of the plywood covering the windows for ventilation. The fire ended up being a small basement fire and the fire investigators were called to determine the cause of the fire. Reisterstown’s crew were there for approximately 2 hours.
Santa is coming to Reisterstown!!
42 Rescue Box – Truck into a ditch
This afternoon we had a rescue box where a truck went into a ditch. The driver was in the vehicle when we arrived. We stabilized the vehicle with the winch cable from the squad and extricated the patient using the stokes basket. The patient was transported by M435 and the engine and squad cleared shortly after.
We are very happy to have Obie Belt back in town to drive the squad on the call.

Busy night with several MVCs
After having a reasonably quiet November we are ending the month with a very busy Tuesday night. Tonight we were alerted for a house fire in 56’s area just south of us. E412 and S414 were both on the road but then canceled upon E56’s arrival.
Then shortly after that around 9pm tonight Station 41 was alerted for a rescue box with a patient trapped north of us on Route 30. S414 arrived and took command and then E412, T404, E422, M505 and several other apparatus arrived. One patient was trapped in the vehicle and S414 and T404 worked to extricate the person. After about 15 minutes with the spreaders and cutters on the car the person was extricated. A helicopter was requested for transport but was not able to fly due to the poor weather so the patient was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
E412 arrived back in station and within 10 minutes were alerted, along with S414 and several other stations for another person trapped in their vehicle. The location was not clear and it took several minutes to find the vehicle which, again, was on Route 30. One patient was trapped in a vehicle off the side of the road and T404, E412 and S414 worked to extricate the person from their vehicle. The patient was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
